This book is a classic. Although this is a Dr Seuss I feel it is designed more for older children, teenagers and even adults. I found I was thinking constantly about the messages in this book and how they are talking about the direction I needed to take in my life.

I find that Dr Seuss books have immediate appeal to everyone. It is the iconic illustrations and the rhythm that hook everyone. They do tend to be longer than suits a young child. This book is no exception. The moment I start reading it I remember why I don't read it very often. The children's attention faded in and out. There is the bonus at the back of of the book several famous pages from Seuss's works. Some fitted very well with the theme of the book and others that clashed. My girls enjoyed these much more than the story.

This would make a good gift for anyone facing a crossroads in their life.

My favourite book of all time by my favourite author of all time. Yet again Seuss created a marvellous tale that you can read again and again and never get sick of hearing. The illustrations of the book are fabulous as always, really zany creatures and scenery combine to create an absolute treat for your eyes, I love the illustrations of Seuss books just as much as I love the stories themselves.

I love the rhymes in this story which make it so easy to read and laugh. My favourite part is the having brains in your head and feet in your shoes it always makes me chuckle. I picked this book as my favourite as it has such a nice message about being in charge of your life and how you can succeed at anything you try, ending by saying that you succeed and will move mountains. I have read this book over and over again to my children and my 10 year old still loves to hear it even though she is way beyond picture books now. I have also bought this book as a gift for friends children as it is the best book I have ever read!

We just love this Dr Seuss book in this family as it's great brain fodder for adults & children alike.
Dr Seuss's easy rhythms make it fun for parents to read to children and entertaining for children to read to themselves or listen to attentively.

This is one of those magic books that I am happy to read over & over to my children.

This is a classic Dr Seuss book. The illustrations are beautiful and strange and colourful. The text is rhythmic, though at times difficult to get your tongue around.

My 4 year old enjoyed parts of the story, but others she found difficult to sit through. She enjoyed the "waiting room" and wanted to help me make up other things we could wait for. She enjoyed the whimsical pictures and imagining where the character might go. However, I think the book is aimed at an older age group.

I can imagine buying this for her when she graduates from Uni or Polytech, or goes on her OE and it being like a giant greeting card filled with the hopes you have for your child and the realities of being a grown up. Its not a book that she requests now though and she will suggest other books when I pick it up to read. She thoroughly enjoys other Seuss titles though, so I think it's just this book in particular.

Our boys love this book and have almost memorised the words and can recite them back (which is not a bad thing as they're pretty inspirational words).

We've used parts of this book in a Naming Ceremony (alternative to Christening) and it went down very well. Poignant words and very relevant. The hard bit is what to leave out, because its all so good.

The kids enjoy Dr Seuss' rhyming (like all his other books) and it presents a motivational yet realistic summary of what 'life' is like. A fun story but equally with a fantastic message.

I think this was the last book Dr Seuss wrote and he certainly went out with a bang!

This is by far my favourite Dr. Seuss book of all time. I bought my own copy with money from my 21st birthday and read it to everyone I could get to sit and listen for the five minutes it took to reach the end. I love the easy rhythm, the memorable phrasing and the inspirational message. Life has its ups and downs, but in the end, you will succeed, because you're that kind of guy (or girl).

Actually, I think the only criticism I have for this book is that it is quite obviously aimed at boys. Not only the 'that kind of guy' comment, but also the names listed at the end (which are all obviously male). A young girl can get the message too of course, but it is a little sad that they couldn't have made it more gender neutral.

Still, I love this book to pieces and read it whenever I am feeling in a seussian 'slump'. It really is an excellent tool for getting perspective and picking oneself up!
