Tucker   Review #2686 - Dated: 12th of September, 2008
  Author: Tucker

Now this is what I am talking about. This is far more in the classic style I have grown up watching and loving. OK, so it's still a twist on the old plot, and some of the 'history' has been discretely 'corrected' to fit the new storylines, but that's pretty normal... look what they did to Stargate to reconcile the series against the original movie!

The style here reminds me of those classic Japanese future-epic shows, like 'Zoids' and 'Battle of the planets' with the humans having remarkably smooth skin that is always perfectly lit to minimise shadows. Yeah sure it's a bit unreal... but then I suppose 15m high self-aware transforming robots aren't exactly commonplace either, so...

Overall, a great new twist to the story, some great action and animation, and of course it got the big Thumb of Approval Thumbs Up from my 8yr old son, who seems to have inherited my affection for the big metal lugs. Grin Icon
