As a vegetarian, it is great to see yet another vegetarian dish adorning the shelves of the local supermarket - it is unfortunate that there are too few of them, but with this vegetable tagine, Kaweka has added a third dish to the heat and eat vegetarian range - something for which I am grateful. Again, as a naturopath, it is great to see this (and others of the Kaweka range) listing "Gluten free" on the label.

Both the "100% Vegetarian" and the "Gluten free" labels could stand out a little more - using some colour perhaps? But both are listed prominently on the front of the box.

This meal really is a hearty meal for 1-2 people depending on whether you serve it with rice or cous-cous. The chickpeas are plentiful and the vegetables nicely chunky. The taste was probably more fruity than spicy for me, and whilst it was quite tasty, it isn't one that appealed to me - but that is a purely personal thing. I know there are many vegetarians out there who would relish this product.

So, for a well-prepared product, that is guarenteed to be vegetarian, you really could not wish for more. As far as vegetarian 'heat and eat' meals go in NZ, Kaweka is sure to be a market leader.

This flavour was definitely the black horse for me. I left it 'til last to try as I was somewhat apprehensive - not being a huge fan of raisins. So today, with the review deadline looming, I took it to work for lunch. It was surprisingly delicious - I didn't add anything to it at all. I just heated it up and dumped it in a plate. Generous amounts of vegetables in a tasty sauce. Plenty of chickpeas - a vegetarian or foodaholic's dream. I didn't even notice the raisins. And even by itself, it was enough to fill me up and keep me that way until afternoon tea. Definitely recommended as a 'try it out' flavour if you ask me. Let your tastebuds live a little.

Having really enjoyed the previous Moroccan offering from Kaweka I was really looking forward to this meal, well I wasn't disappointed this was a very nice dish, even with the absence of any meat (which in this case did nothing to detract from the taste), if anything it made the meal tastier IMHO.

Whilst I also did think the chickpeas were a little on the firm side it wasn't much of a detraction to the overall goodness of the meal.

Another work lunch for me...

I was a little unsure about what to expect with this meal as I've only eaten Moroccan a few times, and never had a tagine... however I would have to say that I was pleasantly surprised!!

I had this with plain rice, nuked it for the usual 3 minutes - got some "Oooooo... what are you eating?" comments from my workmates as the smell expanded through the room - and poured it out to see a lovely rich looking mixture of sauce, veges and chickpeas.

This was a very tasty meal, with a richness that can only come from the inclusion of apricots and raisins, this was a hearty, filling, fulfilling meal that didn't leave me wanting for anything else... The one down point in this meal for me was that I felt that chickpeas were still a little firm, however that is purely personally preference, rather than a real negative for Kaweka.

Another wonderful meal - Thank you!!!

I was looking forward to trying the Vegetable Tagine for my lunch!

I served this with some plain boiled rice. It smelled fantastic coming out of the microwave. It was a generous serving for one with rice. I was a bit scared of the fact the tagine contained apricots and raisins....I have bad childhood memories of being forced to eat the raisins my mother put in the curried sausages! Luckily, I think my tastebuds have matured somewhat because the apricots and raisins lifted the tagine to another level, they added a sweet note and worked really well. There were plenty of vegetables, and the chickpeas tasted great in this.

As mentioned in a previous review, I am a carnivore at heart, so this probably wouldn't appeal so much to me as the others in the range containing meat so personal choice is a 5/10. On that note, you could easily add meat to this - lamb would be my preference.

Overall, a tasty addition to the range!
