Review #13208 - Dated: 5th of January, 2015 Author: mizim |
I'm not crazy about superheroes but I can get into a superhero movie if it is well written and plenty of action to it. Hancock takes a superhero and makes him very human and very very flawed and then throws him right at you. Hancock is taken under the wing of local PR man who decides to try and take this drunk, don't give a damn what anyone thinks and turn him into a semi-polite and decent superhero who doesn't destroy half of the town whilst he's saving it. Things go a bit awry though when Hancock meets the PR's wife.
Despite not being a big fan of Smith, his portrayal of the very flawed, very injured and essentially lost Hancock is very well done and I think this is one of my favorite roles of Will Smith's (right up there with the Men in Black trilogy). The special effects are done really well, the big fight scene near the end would have been great to see on the big screen. I loved the back story to Hancock and why he can't remember his past, the idea that they are creatures from mythologies and not from some random planet appeals to me as well. I rather enjoyed this movie.
