At Primal Earth we believe that natural ingredients are better than synthetic ones. And with ingredients such as mamuku fern extract to lubricate, harakeke flax oil to heal and protect and Aloe Vera to hydrate why use ingredients we're just not sure are all that good for us. With the amount of products we use daily on our skin - from body wash to moisturiser, face wash to shave foam it's no wonder our skin is protesting - reacting to chemicals and additives producing foams and soaps that can give us allergies, cause irritation and dryness or rashes - and even some that may be potentially harmful. While the scientists work that one out, why not avoid the rashes, risk and drama and stick with a natural product made in New Zealand - that does the job better. Primal Earth. |

I received a couple of sample sachets of this in with a review parcel from KIWIreviews and after using the product I am completely sold on it. I shave my legs every couple of days in summer months to keep things smooth and fresh can't be seen with no stubble on my legs wearing a skirt! I normally use shaving gel from an aerosol can from the likes of Gilette or whatever is on special but from now on I would probably buy something like this. This is amazing stuff and goes a long way the one sachet allowed me to do both legs easily so it was a good value for money sachet. I think the tube would last me a very long time and the good thing about having it in a tube as opposed to a can is you can actually get a lot more of the product out. If you are anything like me and desperate times called you could easily cut the tube open to get the last scrapings out! Plus having it in a tube means you aren't getting all the harmful chemicals they put into those aerosols to keep them pressurised. This has a clean fresh scent that can easily be transferable between male and female being that it is certainly not gender specific. My partner doesn't often clean shave as he doesn't like the feeling but when he does he will always moan if he has to use my floral scented shaving gel so I think he would be a lot happier with the smell of this one. I actually like gel's as opposed to a shaving creme as they glide on nicely and leave my skin feeling moisturised and fresh. I have also used this on my sensitive under arm area and can tell it doesn't have a lot of harmful chemicals as it hasn't left my under arm area feeling aggravated like some shaving gel/razor combinations can do. I found that I could put my deodarant straight on without any stinging which was a bonus too when you are in a rush to get out the door after your morning shower. |

Primal Earth shaving products in the funky new army green packaging. They look cool and us girls thing they smell great and work awesome too. But what do the men think? Hubby tried this one and being a gel he felt that he only used a tiny little bit to put on his face to shave, so for the amount used we felt that this will last a long time, making it really good value for money. His face felt refreshed and clean when he had completed his shave, and a quick inspection from me showed that he also managed to obtain a nice close shave with no redness, drying or irritation occurring! We both found the smell quite pleasant and not over bearing and it was nice to know that it contained harakeke flax oil to heal and protect as well as aloe vera. His main gripe however was the fact it was a gel. He is not a huge fan of gels in shaving products. I myself love them, but he feels that they cause a lot of clogging in the razor and he did comment a lot on this with this gel. He liked the product but he was annoyed about the razor clogging. As we already know the packaging is funky and awesome and would make a great gift. Its easy to open, even one handed, which according to hubby is really handy lol (not sure why that matters). All in all from a girls point of view I think this is a great product, which leaves the skin nice and smooth and clean looking and a nice milk scent left lingering too. From a guys point of view. Its easy to use, it goes on easy but it clogs my razor, the smell is pleasant but I would prefer a foam. |

As all my other reviews on this brand I just love it. I used this this morning under my arms and bikini line. Now I ALWAYS get a rash in the bikini line and it drives me insane so this was a big risk. The gel was nice almost like the face wash, felt like a face mask but to remove hair lol. I loved the smell and texture of it. This was easy to use and the razor slid nicely. Didn't leave any residue and smelt good, almost too good just to use to remove hair lol. After 9 hours I still dont have a rash and I'm not itchy so this is a great thing. This along with the shave cream I will be set with shaving. I fully recommend this product for anyone that cant find something that works, something that doesn't give a rash and great for sensitive skin. You wont regret it, with all NZ natural products in it. The 140mls will last a while as you only need a small amount to rub over the areas you need. |

The Primal Earth products are 100% vegetarian, no animal testing, artificial colors, Parabens or phtlates. I love that hubby could be using products that are natural and hopefully as a result being better for his skin and his health. This Shaving Gel rated better than the shaving cream in our house. With a more "manly" smell hubby was happier to try it. It was also much better for his coarse facial hair and he got a better shave from it than with the cream. Having said that hubby has very wiry facial hair and this was not a product he was particularly happy with. On less coarse hair (ie my legs...) this was fine. I will probably be the one left using this so I'm happy. The gel does lather up more and is more sticky so it is easier to redo areas that you have already shaved and also see where you have or haven't shaved. It isn't as good as a foam but different. You don't have to use a huge amount so I imagine this will take a while to use up. I do prefer pump dispensers for in shower use and with wet hands but this is okay. Overall a good gel that is going to be better for your body but probably a personal preference product that is more suitable for less coarse hair. Given that these products are "100% natural" I am willing to compromise a little on effectiveness on my legs unlike hubby for his face! |

Of the five Primal Earth products I've been given to review the Refresh Shave Gel is my least favourite. It isn't because there was anything wrong about the product, it just didn't seem to fit with the Primal Earth ethos. Primal earth seems to pride itself in containing plant based ingredients yet this product contains colouring. The gel is a bluish- green colour, nothing that a plant would have created. The fragrance is also artificial. The price, colour and scent are more like something that would be produced by Lynx. I did however find this gel effective for shaving. It was easy to apply with or without a shower puff. It was a good consistency that was easy to control dispensing from the tube. It made the razor glide smoothly and I no issues with razor burn or nicks. It was reassuring to have a foil seal. The was seal much easier to remove than some other products even with wet hands. |

We got this product to try recently. My husband is a fan of shave gels so it wasn't hard to get him to try it. Hubby has a fair amount of facial hair - a beard, moustache and he is trying to grow his sideburns in as well. So he needs a product that is going to do a good job. He also needs a product that makes shaping easy. This gel lathers nicely, but it is low suds which makes it easier to see what you are doing. The gel smells really nice. Its got a citrisy, peppery kind of smell. The ingredients include lots of natural things. They sound a bit sciencey. But I loved that the list pointed out the natural name of things and showed where something was naturally sourced as well. I tried this stuff on my legs (because what woman doesn't steal her partner's gear occasionally!). It went on well and I liked that it clung to my leg a bit. It meant I could go over the same piece again and again if I needed to without re-applying the gel. With it being a clinging product, you need less and the tube should therefore last a bit longer! |

Hubby is not a fan of shaving gel, so when we got this, I noticed it was left in the cupboard. But when old faithful electric razor died its natural death he pulled it out to give it a try. "It's not that, bad that stuff," he says in passing comment - translated from kiwi male that means, that's a good product and I think you should buy it again. Now that he had opened it, I did what all women do and gave it a smell; it had a lovely aroma not to over powering and manly, just 'nice'. As a woman it's great to see a company producing quality natural products for men, I think they are a neglected area of the market sometimes, and it's just as important that what they are putting on their skin isn't full of chemicals. I don't know that we will be purchasing this in the future, but only because hubby is a fan of the electric razor, but I would recommend it to those who prefer the disposable shavers. |

They say good things come in small packages, and that saying isn't wasted on Primal Earth Shave gel, a little goes a long way. For someone as hairy as myself, normal shaving creams end up going all over the place, Primal Earth overcomes this by being a gel based product. With natural ingredients this gel feels and smells great on the skin, and allows your razor to glide across your skin allowing for a nice close shave. If you have irritable skin, give Primal Earth Shave gel a try, and the results will speak for themselves. |

I found that Primal Earth came in attractive packaging that any man would be proud to own without being over bearing or girlie. The gel doesn't foam up and a large part of that is because they don't put alot of unnecessary ingredients into it. The best thing about it is that you use less than most other shaving creams and it is specially made for men with sensitive skin (ladies, it's also good for the sensitive areas you have). With three different type available, Menthol Cool, Aloe Hydrate and Extra Sensitive, there is something for every man out there. Personally I would go for the Aloe Hydrate as it doesn't leave your skin with a warm tingling feeling like the Menthol Cool. There are a few things to note about Primal Earth, Firstly, It is organic, Secondly, It was made by a kiwi guy for kiwi guys and Thirdly, and this has to be my favourite thing about Primal Earth, is that you CAN NOT buy it online. Primal Earth is only available in supermarkets and the price for a 175ml tube, isn't too bad. In fact, it's bloody great. |
